On selected buses, the plugin dynamically applies a filter for the purpose of equalising the dynamics of the selected bus.
The dynamic components of Filtrate are as follows:
Select bus: We apply the selected filter to the left/right buses.
Kernelsize: We use 3 different filter sizes, each corresponding to three frequency kernels. The kernels are visualised below the filter settings:

By selecting a different kernel size (or a different amount of bins to compare) you can view the different results that the filter will give. If your equaliser is not performing as well as it should, try changing the filter settings with the preview on the right.


I ended up using multibox for the purpose of performing the frequency response filtering on all buses. The advantages over Filtrate for me included:

Kernel size selection with a preview of the different filters
Simultaneous frequency response filtering on all buses

The plugin is a bit slow to work with due to the many sources it needs to control, but I was able to get it working for most use cases.

Umm, this has happened before. I think in the grand scheme of things it’s a big deal, but we’ve all learned to ride with it. I mean, even if the seat was one step higher than the foot peg, my foot would still be in the front of the bike and the sit wouldn’t have the same effect.

I suspect we have this question at least a few times a year. I know I’ve asked at least one person, in person, at least a few times.

I do, but they still get on at the end of the day. I tell people to come in with their complaints when they ride, so it’s not just some random person, it’s someone who rides with me.

Utility is to use for reduction of digital audio streaming Internet or band-limited audio data. The equalizer is able to equalize and increase levels, without concern for the volume of the source material. Settings are pre-configured, all necessary conversions are also managed in the plugin. Settings may be saved, switched or loaded from the internal database.

In addition to the controls that are created by the plugin, you can control Filtrate by invoking the following JavaScript functions:

Level: Sets the overall level of the plugin, as well as the level of the EQ settings.

Trim: Trim the left channel by a specific amount.

Sdr: Sets the equalization center frequency to a specific frequency.

Bw: Sets the boost factor.

Overall: Enables the EQ global adjustments.

Spilt: Enables the equalizer split to left/right.

EQ: Enables the EQ options for left and right channels.

The default configuration is suitable for recording, broadcasting or playing low-bitrate audio file with a bit rate of 320kbps or less and with a sample rate of 44.1kHz or 48kHz. Higher bit rates may require tweaking the parameters to achieve better performance.

The simplest way to use Filtrate is by editing the audio file and providing the desired Filtrate controls. However, Filtrate offers additional configuration options to make it even more useful.

To use the Filtrate plugin during recording or editing, simply click on the “Convert (Script)” button and select “Filtrate” for the conversion method. The exact conversion settings may be defined on the bottom of the dialog.

The file format for the radio or audio that is to be converted is not important. Filtrate can work with the most common audio file formats such as MP3, Ogg, AIFF, WAVE.

In the event that the custom settings are not the desired outcome, Filtrate offers a “reset” button to “close” the dialog. The settings are saved in a database.
